POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Civil AutoCAD Specialist to use computer aided design techniques to prepare drawings and draft plans for civil construction, environmental remediation, and water resource-related services. Our work is fast paced with short deadlines, and you must be able to perform your tasks accurately and quickly. This position will require coordination and working closely with LSCE Principal, Supervising, Senior, and Project level engineers, as well as outside subcontractors, general contractors, owners/clients, and LSCE subconsultants. This individual will have a general understanding of municipal water infrastructure drafting using AutoCAD and will provide drafting and AutoCAD Civil 3D modeling support on a variety of civil engineering projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Assist with the development of civil and mechanical designs for municipal water infrastructure projects, prepare detailed drawings, coordinate and consult with Engineers to complete various engineering projects.
  • Create complex engineering drawings with plan views, section views, and details. Ability to create AutoCAD drawings from hand sketches and verbal instructions. Ability to incorporate site surveys into design drawings.
  • Use Civil 3D to develop grading plans, assess vehicle ingress/egress, create pipeline plan and profiles, and for georeferencing site surveys.
  • Estimate quantities from design drawings, to be used for bidding projects, and prepare proposal drawings, along with technical documentation.
  • Assist Project Managers with field design changes, engineering change orders on projects, and development of As-Built Drawings.
  • Explain drawings to production or construction teams and interact with engineering personnel.
  • Provide uniform AutoCAD formatting of drawing files developed in-house and by other parties including LSCE subconsultants.
  • Organize the existing electronic AutoCAD file directory structure, clean-up, catalog projects, and archive directories.
  • Conduct field investigations and inspections as needed.
  • Export to/from GIS to/from CAD
  • Perform other duties as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with AutoCAD v.2018 or higher and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Working knowledge of traditional drafting methods
  • Must be able to read and understand civil plan sets
  • Ability to design quickly and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Have strong AutoCAD management skills
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work well in a team environment to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of GIS
  • Highly motivated, passionate learner with strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and takes pride and ownership in the development of high-quality deliverables
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, and Word)
  • Competitive mindset and a positive attitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of engineering plan preparation
  • Drafting experience in water infrastructure civil engineering projects such as: piping systems (plan and profile), distribution systems, storage tanks, pump stations, and surface and groundwater treatment facilities.
  • Experience creating grading plans
  • Associate Degree or vocational school training in drafting
  • Background or knowledge with groundwater and surface water treatment, pump station, water distribution and storage, and municipal/potable drinking water standards and design.
