Technical support for sustainable groundwater management, done your way
We have been immersed in SGMA-related work from the beginning; this includes our service on technical advisory groups to the California Department of Water Resources during the development of the Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) emergency regulations and Best Management Practices for implementation of the Act. Since then, we have assisted entities across California in securing funding and fulfilling requirements of SGMA, including the development of GSPs.
We have been working on SGMA-related efforts in groundwater basins and subbasins throughout the state, including many critically overdrafted subbasins. Our technical work related to GSPs spans many of the high and medium priority basins or subbasins representing diverse stakeholders and teaming arrangements. We appreciate the opportunity to provide exceptional technical support to ensure that SGMA and GSPs achieve sustainable groundwater management in a manner consistent with local values and interests.
Significant Project Elements
- Assistance with grant applications resulting in significant financial awards and additional technical support services to aid local SGMA efforts
- Engagement with stakeholders to understand local interests and concerns related to SGMA and groundwater management
- Evaluation of value realized from projects and management actions to achieve or maintain sustainability focusing on activities to preserve the quality of life for all beneficial users
- Characterization of basin settings including development of Hydrogeologic Conceptual Models and documentation of groundwater conditions
- Development, refinement, and application of numerical and analytical groundwater models to evaluate future sustainability scenarios and demonstrate how GSPs will achieve long-term sustainability
- Estimation of historical, current, and future water budgets, including analyzing potential effects related to climate variability
- Design and installation of more than 50 monitoring wells at 19 sites to fill monitoring gaps in support of GSP implementation
