Staff Geologist

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Work responsibilities may include but are not limited to fieldwork in groundwater-related projects, including exploration drilling, construction of monitoring and production wells, lithologic interpretation of borehole samples and geologic log preparation, well development and testing oversight, collection of groundwater level data and water quality samples, documentation of field activities, permitting assistance, construction project oversight, construction workplan compliance, installation and maintenance of automated water level monitoring equipment, and report preparation. This work may require lifting of heavy field equipment as well as exposure to outdoor site conditions – noise, dust, equipment exhaust, hazardous materials, environmental hazards, and variable weather conditions. Candidate will assist multiple Project Managers on a variety of projects. Candidate will be required to work independently in the field. Position will require approximately 65% field work and overnight travel within California and may require weekend and overnight work.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field and 1-3 years of experience in the water resources, petroleum, or mining industries.  Preferred knowledge and experience include field hydrogeology, exploratory drilling, well design, well installation, aquifer testing, and water quality sampling. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer, attention to detail, and organizational skills.  Mechanical aptitude as well as the ability to work independently in the field is a plus.  Candidate with Professional Geologist license, or who is on track for licensing, is preferred.
